In a reversal of fortunes, the Eureka Lawyers Rockingham Flames Women's team bounced back from their Round 1 performance handing the Lightning their first loss of the season, courtesy of a stunning 42 point performance from WNBA and Opals superstar Sami Whitcomb.
The side also saw two huge additions to the list with reigning NBL1 West MVP Teige Morrell (16pts 8reb) and last year's Golden Hands winner Stef Berberabe (14pts 3ast 3reb 2stl) playing their first games for the Flames.
5 players were in double figures by the end of the night including Paris Duffield (11pts 3x3pm) and Paris Spencer (11pts)
Rockingham never yielded the lead, but it was a 4th quarter 29-13 close out that gave them a 28 point win for the night.
Meanwhile for the Flames Men's team a heartbreaking buzzer beating shot would see their record go 1-1 to start the season.
Despite the loss, Flames centre Blake Jones notched up another double-double (25pts 10reb) and after Round 2 leads the league in rebounds, whilst game night MVP Emmett Naar (20pts 14ast) claimed his spot on top of the NBL1 West assist leader board.
Both teams head south to Eaton Recreation Centre to take on the Southwest Slammers
